Position Title: Disability Management Specialist
Role Type: Permanent/ Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)
Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8-hour day shifts

What I will be doing?
Develop and maintain an atmosphere of trust and mutual support with employees and management.
Assist employees in navigating Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) insurance and corporate disability insurance program.
Manage corporate WCB and non-occupational disability programs.
Draft and deliver non-occupational leave approval letters.
Coordinate with Payroll regarding employee premium payments and perform collections non-payment.
Coordinate employee claims with WCB, corporate disability insurer, or equivalent parties.
Actively manage all claims, review claims decisions, and initiate appeals as necessary.
Provide regular updates to senior leadership, WCB, and external corporate benefits team.
Review Physical Demands Analyses for various positions within Acden.
Enlist service providers and community resources to prevent or reduce the severity of bodily injuries caused by external mechanisms due to work activities.
Arrange appropriate medical, vocational, and work capacity assessments.
Review all medical documentation and monitor return-to-work progress, maintain records and computer-based tracking for claim/case files and modified work program.
Develop an effective return-to-work plan in consultation with the employer, employee and insurer.
Deliver first aid training, and develop and deliver other training programs as required.
Perform other duties as required to support HSE&Q and the Acden Leave Management team.
What does Acden need from me?
Minimum three year’s full time experience managing disability claims is required.
A certificate or diploma in a related field (disability management, health science, OHS) is required.
Proficient in reading and interpreting relevant legislation (Alberta OHS legislation, WCB Act and Policy) is required.
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license with a clean abstract is required.
Ability to successfully pass drug, alcohol, and hearing pre-employment testing is required.
Ability to work evenings and weekends per operational requirement is required.
Ability to demonstrate a personal commitment and positive attitude to the safety team.
High degree of confidentiality, professionalism, accuracy, attention to detail, clear and precision in communication.
What are the "nice to haves"?
Certification and designation in related field (i.e., CRSP, CHSC, CDMP etc.) is preferred.
Working knowledge of Alberta OH&S Act Regulation and Code is preferred.
