Position Title: HSE&Q Safety Advisor
Role Type: Temporary /Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)
Temp Term Dates: 6-month term
Location: Taiganova - Acden HQ, Fort McMurray, Alberta
Work Schedule: 5 days on, 2 days off; 8-hour day shifts

What I will be doing?
• Conduct workplace inspections, internal audits, and safety investigations to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Resolve safety concerns, support work refusal investigations, and promote employee participation in HSE programs.
• Manage corrective actions, incident reporting, root cause analysis, and action-tracking systems.
• Prepare and deliver safety meetings, toolbox talks, training sessions, and customized training materials.
• Develop and review Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs), Safe Work Practices (SWPs), Safe Job Procedures (SJPs), and HSEQ program documentation.
• Monitor incident trends, maintain KPI and incident management reports, and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to supervisors and management on implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support emergency response, safety hotline coverage, client safety meetings, and collaboration across HSE teams.
What does Acden need from me?
Valid Alberta Class Five (5) driver’s license is required with a clean driver’s abstract.
Minimum three (3) year’s full-time experience in an HSE dedicated role is required.
Certification and designation in HSE related field (i.e. NCSO, CRSP, CHSC etc.) or completion of Occupational Health and Safety certificate is required.
Certificate of Recognition (COR) Auditor Status in good standing is required.
Clear and precise verbal communication skills is required.
Ability to demonstrate a personal commitment and positive attitude to the safety team is required.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail is required.
Ability to manage multiple high-level responsibilities and tasks is required.
What are the "nice to haves"?
Minimum completion of Occupational Health and Safety certificate is strongly preferred.
Certification in various end user training courses (forklift, Overhead Crane, Fall Protection etc.) as required by the HSEQ department is an asset.
Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems including but not limited to: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 is an asset.
Working knowledge of Alberta OH&S Act Regulation and Code, Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Motor Carrier Safety Standards, Motor Vehicle Transport Act and National Safety Code is an asset.
