Position/Term: Permanent/ Camp/FIFO
Location: IOL Kearl, Fort McMurray, Alberta
Work Schedule: 14 days on, 14 days off; 12-hour day shifts

As a Hazardous Technician I, you will be responsible for the safe handling, sorting and processing of hazardous waste products on site.
What I will be doing?
- Safely escort and spot vehicles into various locations around site
- Safely operate Skid Steer and Forklift as assigned
- Label hazardous waste containers and assist with properly segregating hazardous waste
- Assist with the preparation of containers for shipment as per Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) standards
- Assist with the collection of hazardous waste bins and any repairs that are needed
- Monitor inventory levels of products in the laydown
- Develop and maintain an accurate Safety Data Sheet (SDS) log
- Operate filter and bulb crusher as required
- Complete and submit Near Miss Cards, Nobody Gets Hurt cards and peer to peer observations and FLRA’s
- Maintain housekeeping and organization of the laydown yard, and repair and refurbish waste bins
- Understand and adhere to all Acden and client company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned that fulfill the demands of the role
What does Acden need from me?
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and a clean abstract that demonstrates a pattern of safe driving behaviour are required
- 2 or more years of labour experience and the ability to perform intensive duties as required
- Valid Common Safety Orientation (CSO), OSSA BSO Certificate, or a combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional certificates are required
- Ability to successfully complete the HAZWOPER Technician course is required.
- Successfully obtain clearance on mandatory pre-employment drug, alcohol, hearing and physical abilities testing
- Eligible to work at all Oil Sand sites within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is required
- Physically fit to perform all necessary duties of the job
What are the "nice to haves"?
- Skid Steer and Forklift experience is considered a strong asset
- Hazardous waste experience is preferred
