Employment Type: Temporary /Local Position (Non-Camp/Non-FIFO)
Location: Syncrude, Fort McMurray, Alberta
Work Schedule: 6 on, 6 off; 12-hour rotating day and night shifts

What I will be doing?
- Weld Ice Lugs to heavy equipment.
- Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW), flux-cored arc (FAW), plasma arc (PAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), oxy-acetylene (OAW), resistance welding, submerged arc welding (SAW) and Cooper Heat.
- Determine required equipment and welding method through applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
- Perform all work in compliance with established safety procedures and codes.
- Repair worn parts of metal products.
- Ability to weld/gouge in all positions.
- Able to work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Physically fit to perform all duties of the job including but not limited to heavy lifting, bending etc.
What does Acden need from me?
- Alberta Journeyperson or Interprovincial Red Seal Welder Certified is required.
- Common Safety Orientation (CSO) certificate is required.
- Successfully obtain clearance on mandatory pre-employment drug, alcohol, hearing, mask-fit and physical abilities testing is required.
- Eligible to work at all Oil Sand sites within the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is required.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is a required.
What are the "nice to haves"?
- Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), Gas metal arc welding (GMAW) (MIG), Flux core arc welding (FCAW), Stick Welding and Gouging (CAC-A) experience would be preferred.
- Heavy Equipment repair experience, including dozers, dippers, heavy haulers, buckets is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints is an asset.
- Cooper Heat experience an asset.
- Experienced with 1/16” (1.6mm) wire is considered an asset.
- Previous ice lugging experience is considered an asset.
